More than 343 kanals of State/ Kahcharai land was today retrieved from encroachers during anti-encroachment drives held across the district. Elderly man injured in bear attack in Shopian

A 55-year-old man was injured after he was attacked by a bear in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday evening. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the man identified as Mohammad Maqbool Dar (55) of Nusipora Keegam was attacked by bear in Haaji Check Keegam area of the district. He said the man received injuries and was rushed to district hospital Pulwama for treatment, where his condition is said to be stable. Three LeT militants killed in Shopian encounter

Three militants of Lashkar e Taiba were killed in during an encounter in Munjh Marg area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday morning, police said. According to Police, the encounter started when Government forces including the Indian Army, and Jammu Kashmir Police were fired upon by militants during a cordon and search operation in the area, following specific inputs about militant presence in the area. During the exchange of gunfire, three militants were killed, officials said. The slain was identified as Lateef Ahmed Lone of Shopian, and Umer nazir of Anantnag, while the third militant has not been identified as of yet.
