South Records 7.16, Budgam records 17 Percent Polling

The Chief Electoral Officer of Jammu Kashmir has released the toll count and percentage of votes polled on Monday for different districts of Kashmir valley and Jammu division. He said that 8.3 per cent of the electorate voted in the first-phase of the urban local body polls in Kashmir Valley, while Kargil recorded the highest turnout of 78 per cent. Polling was done in 83 wards of the Kashmir valley which began at 7 am and ended at 4 pm amidst tight security and protests. Rain, Snow Predicted in Parts of the Kashmir Valley

October 08 After a brief dry spell, the weather department has predicted intermittent rain today in the Kashmir Valley. A MeT official said that there are chances of rain and snowfall in parts of the Kashmir Valley. “Higher reaches and plains can receive moderate to heavy rainfall on Monday and Tuesday,” he said adding that weather will be clear from Monday. Looking at the weather in Kashmir, over the next 7 days, the maximum temperature will be 25℃ on Saturday 13th October. In the same week the minimum temperature will be 5℃ on Thursday 11th October at around 5 am. The national weather service for Srinagar is reporting Tuesday 9th October to be the wettest day in the coming week.

Mirwaiz South Kashmir Qazi Yasir Arrested Ahead of Demo Referendum

October 08 The Chairman of Ummat e Islami and Mirwaiz Qazi Ahmed Yasir was detained by Jammu Kashmir Police after his house was raided in the wee hours of Monday. October  08 A presiding officer Monday was suspended  for violating polling rules in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, where first phase of urban and local body polls began this morning. Reports said that the presiding officer was suspended  for violating norms by allowing a woman to accompany a voter up to the voting compartment in Kaloosa area of Bandipora district here this morning. Voting Negligible in South Kashmir’s Islamabad (Anantnag)

October 08 The Urban Local Body Polls have evoked negligible response from Locals in Kokernag Belt of  South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) belt as only 78 people have cast their ballot out of 1662 registered voters. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that till 11 am, at ward 13 only 7 votes were casted out of 904, At ward 9, 01 vote was casted out of 264, 01 vote was exercised their franchise out of 218 at Ward 11, in Ward 05, 69 votes were casted out of 276. They said that people of the area have remained indoors mainly and decided to not vote amid high security measures undertaken by the Government Agencies.

Minor, His Cousin Detained by Forces During Nocturnal Raids in Kulgam

October 07 Two Young cousins have been detained in Redwani area in South Kashmir's Kulgam District and kept under detention in Police Station Wanpoh for the third continuous day.
