Army Interacts With Locals in South Kashmir Area

October 06 The Commanding Officer 1 RR Bn on Saturday interacted with village elders including Muqdams, Sarpanchs, school teachers and Awqaf committee members at Redwani Bala in South Kashmir's Kulgam District. As per an official press release issued to The Kashmiriyat more than 100 locals from various villages attended the event which was addressed by the commanding Officer of 1 Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army. He assured the locals that the camp recently launched in the Redwani locality  is for the benefits of locals and Army is always there  for help and support of the locals. CASO Launched in Islamabad (Anantnag) Area

October 06 The Government Forces on Saturday launched a cordon and search operation in Mattan area of South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Saturday, the forces including 1 RR of Indian Army sealed all the entry and exit points to the area. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that a heavy contingent of forces reached this Islamabad (Anantnag) locality and are conducting a search operation in the area. Internet Barred in South Kashmir ahead of Polls

October 06 Mobile internet services have been barred in South Kashmir Districts of Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam and Islamabad (Anantnag) ahead of the Urban Local body polls scheduled to begin on the eighth day of October. A Telecom official told The Kashmiriyat that they have received an order to bar internet services in South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) and Pulwama, and in Shopian and Kulgam they were asked to reduce the internet speed. However Locals from Kulgam and Shopian said that Internet has been barred in the entire South Kashmir region. No Official confirmation could be received regarding the barring of Internet Services, However sources informed The Kashmiriyat that the services have been barred as a precautionary measure for the upcoming polls.

Dog Bite Cases Increasing in Kulgam- 10 Bitten in a Single Day

October 06 Nearly ten people were injured in dog bite cases in district  Kulgam of South Kashmir on Friday, out of whom one has been referred to Srinagar. People including children were injured during dog biting incidents at Banimulla, Tarigam, Matalhama and Tekipora, Four persons were injured in chadder ban area of Kulgam. All have been admitted in the district hospital for further treatment as earlier Alim Ahmed Bhat, 7 year old boy resident of Nanibug Kulgam died due to rabies of dog bite. Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir Reaches Kulgam Area, Demands Removal of Army Camp

October 06 "Will give a full fledged program for the removal of Army camp in this residential area," Mirwaiz South Kashmir Qazi Ahmed Yasir said while addressing protesters in Redwani area of South Kashmir's Kulgam. The area has shut for the eighth consecutive day to press in for the demand of the removal of the Army camp that was established last Sunday in the Redwani locality. Shopkeeper who was kidnapped on Wednesday, found dead in Sopore

October  06 Sajad Hameed Body of the recently abducted person (Tawseef Ganie) from Unsoo village was on Saturday found in an orchard in Harwan area of Sopore in north Kashmir's Baramulla district. Tawseef Ganie son of Mohamad Afzal Ganie resident of Tujar was abducted from Unisoo village of Baramulla by suspected militants.  Officials Sources confirmed that the body of Tawseef has been recovered from the orchards.and “Slit throat body of Tawseef Ganie has been recovered,” Police sources confirmed. Tawseef was abducted on October 3 from his meat shop in Unsoo.

12 Army men Injured in a Road Accident in Shopian

October 06 At least ten Government Force Personnel have been injured in a road accident in Kanipora area of South Kashmir's Shopian District early morning o Saturday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that ten Army men of 23 PARA got Injured as their vehicle turned turtle on Kanipora bridge at Shopian during the Night hours. The Injured men have been rushed to Army's 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar where the condition of some of them is stated to be critical.

October 05 Despite repeated verbal attempts of the Police officials of Jammu Kashmir Police, Militancy is showing no signs of declination. In fact the Army General of India has been constantly asking the local Kashmiri youth to give up arms and asking people to keep their wards away from militancy.
