DDC Shopian Reviews Traffic Scenario

District Development Commissioner Shopian, Dr Owais Ahmed today convened a meeting to review measures being taken for better traffic management in the district.

Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Shopian, Executive Engineer R&B, Shopian, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Shopian, Tehsildar Shopian, Assistant Regional Transport Officer Shopian, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Shopian, District Youth Services & Sports Officer, and other concerned.

In a presser issued to The Kashmiriyat, the admin said that Measures to address traffic snarls near schools, market areas etc were discussed threadbare. The DDC stressed for immediate action for improving identified black spots, installation of signages, painting of roads at appropriate spots, generation of awareness for making the roads in the district safer.

He further directed the traffic regulatory authority not to allow any heavy vehicles or loaded trucks to enter the jurisdictions of towns from 9 am to 5 pm in the district.

The Executive Officer Municipality Committee Shopian was directed to remove all the unauthorized street vendors from the Bus Adda inner roads, Bypass-road, Shopian-Srinagar road and other busy places of the town.
