Militancy Growing- At least 160 Locals Have Joined Militancy in 2018 So Far

September 29 Nearly 160 Youths from Jammu Kashmir have been recruited into Militancy this year, the highest since 2010, officials said here. According to figures available to The Kashmiriyat till till October 25, nearly  163 youths have joined various Militant outfits with South Kashmir's Shopian district contributing the maximum of 50 so far. The number of local recruits in 2017 was 126, this despite at least 220 Militants being killed the last year. As per a report published in New Indian Express, many youngsters are joining the Militant outfits including Hizb ul Mujahideen, Lashkar e Taiba and Jaish e Muhammad. Forces Ransack the House of Active Militant Naveed Babu in Shopian

October 29 The Government Forces late night on Sunday vandalized the property of top hizb commander Naveed Shah alias babu in Nazimpora area of South Kashmir's shopian district. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that the Government forces launched a Cordon and search operation in many villages including Nazimpora native village of Naveed Babu, however when they found nothing they thrashed several locals as well as damaged windowpanes of newly constructed house of Naveed. This is not the first time when forces have ransacked the property of the Hizb militant Naveed but many times they did it in past also. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the Forces including 44 Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army, SOG of Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF blocked all the entry and exit points to the Batpora area. Militants Attack DPL in Shopian

October 27 Militants on Saturday evening attacked the District Police Lines (DPL) in Shopian District of South Kashmir Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Suspected Militants opened fire on Jammu Kashmir Policemen near DPL Shopian, however nobody was injured in the attack. The Policemen retaliated with firing, however the attackers successfully escaped from the spot. An official confirmed the attack and said that a search operation has been launched to nab the attackers. Details awaited.

CASO Called off in Redwani after 9 Hours, Nothing Found

October 27 The CASO launched in Ghat Redwani area of South Kashmir's Kulgam District has been called after nothing was found in the area. The Government forces including 1 RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF had laid down the cordon and Search operation jointly. "The Operation was called off after troopers conducted Search Operations for nearly 9 hours, but nothing was found," Sources told The Kashmiriyat. Massive clashes had also erupted in the area.

At least 25 Injured in Shopian Clashes as CASO Continues for 8th Hour

October 27 At least 25 unarmed civilians have been injured in the ongoing clashes with government forces during a cordon and search operation at Dreed-Kalipora (DK Pora) area in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday. October 27 At least 20 civilians have been injured during clashes with the Government forces after clashes broke out during a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Redwani area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that youth from nearby areas of Redwani took to streets and clashed with the forces after they launched a CASO in the area, the Forces resorted to intense tear smoke shelling and pellet firing to disperse the protesters, triggering clashes. October 27 Unknown gunmen on Saturday afternoon kidnapped a civilian from Laroo area in South Kashmir's Kulgam District after barging inside a house in the area. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Sheeraz Ahmed Czak son of Ghulam Mohammed Czak was arrested by gunmen from the Laroo area after they barged inside his house in the Laroo Kulgam area.
