At least 25 Injured in Shopian Clashes as CASO Continues for 8th Hour

At least 25 unarmed civilians have been injured in the ongoing clashes with government forces during a cordon and search operation at Dreed-Kalipora (DK Pora) area in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 25 civilians were injured after Forces fired tear smoke shells and pellets upon protesters in the area when they hit the streets after a CASO was launched in the locality.

Officials at PHC Dreed Kalipora confirmed to The Kashmiriyat that 20 persons were injured with pellets in the clashes were brought to the hospital out of which three have been referred to a Srinagar hospital for advanced treatment.

Locals told The Kashmiriyat that the cordon and search operation that began in the area around 11 am is still on and a  door to door searches operation is being conducted amid intense clashes.
