Forces Launch CASO in Tral Area

March 07 A cordon and search operation (CASO) has been launched by Government Forces in Tral area of South Kashmir's Pulwama District Sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Thursday afternoon, 42 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police jointly launched a search operation in Buntral area of Tral. Hurriyat Calls for Shutdown on Friday Against PSA on Yasin Malik

March 07 The Joint Resistance Leadership in Kashmir has called for a complete shutdown on Friday against the unabated arrests in the Kashmir valley. In a statement issued by the JRL, it has asked people of Kashmir valley to observed shutdown against the slapping of PSA on Yasin Malik, the JKLF chairman, who is also a member of JRL. Yasin Malik, who was arrested on 22 February was slapped with draconian Public safety act on Thursday morning and shifted to a Jammu jail.

Jamaat e Islami head Office Sealed in Srinagar

March 07 Ten days of declaring Jamaat e Islami Jammu and Kashmir an ‘unlawfull organisation’, Government sealed the headquarters of the socio religious party at Batamaloo, Srinagar on Thursday. According to sources a large contingent of forces arrived at the place and entered JEI’s office and sealed it. JeI was banned by the government of India for allegedly supporting militancy, separatists, and to carve out an Islamic state out of Government established by law. More than 200 activists of JeI has been arrested so far.

18 Injured in Jammu Bus Stand Blast

March 07 Eighteen people have been injured in a blast in Jammu bus stand on thursday morning, Police officials said. "It seems the grenade was lobbed from outside and it possibly rolled beneath the bus. It has caused injuries to 18 persons": IGP of Jammu division said. The injured have been evacuated to the nearby hospital for treatment.

Omar Abdullah Calls BJP Leader, Kavinder Gupta as ‘ill informed Bigot’ for Madrasa Remark

March 07 Bhartiya Janata Party leader and former Assembly Speaker of Jammu Kashmir Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta who is known for his controversial statements Tuesday courted another controversy when he claimed that ‘Madrassas’ in Kashmir Valley are the source of militancy. Gupta said that ‘Madrassas’ are the places where militants are born, a statement that was criticized by former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullha who termed Gupta a bigot and ill-informed. While responding to the remarks of Kavinder Gupta, the National Conference leader took to Twitter and wrote: “And RSS shakhas produce ill-informed bigots like Gupta here.”

March 07 Prime Minister Imran Khan said that tensions between Pakistan and India had reduced and the threat of war was eliminated through timely and wise decisions, but cautioned the party lawmakers that the situation on the borders was still tense. Chairing a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) parliamentary party meeting, he said a crackdown on the banned outfits was an internal security matter of Pakistan and the government took the decision without any outside pressure. Yasin Malik booked Under Public Safety Act, Shifted to Jammu Jail

March 07 The Chairman of  Jammu ad Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Mohammed Yasin Malik has been booked under the Public Safety Act and will be shifted to Jammu jail. The separatist leader was arrested by police in a late night raid on February 22. His detention had come ahead of a crucial hearing on Article 35-A in Supreme Court. Malik was arrested from his Maisuma residence and was taken to the Kothibagh Police Station.

March 07 In continuation of assaults against Kashmiris outside, Two dry fruit vendors from Kashmir were thrashed by a violent group of men on a busy road in Uttar Pradesh's capital Lucknow. March 06 An exchange of gunfire took place between Militants and Government Forces in the Badra area of Handwara in North Kashmir's Kupwara District  on Wednesday night. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that  RR of Indian Army, SOG of Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation in the area upon receiving a specific input about the presence of Militants in the area. As the troopers were conducting the search operations, the Militants opened fire upon forces, After initial contact, however, no fresh contact has been established yet. Sources said that no firing has been heard for the past half an hour. "Militants have likely escaped from the spot," Sources told The Kashmiriyat. However massive search operations are still being conducted in the area.
