Yasin Malik booked Under Public Safety Act, Shifted to Jammu Jail

March 07 The Chairman of  Jammu ad Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Mohammed Yasin Malik has been booked under the Public Safety Act and will be shifted to Jammu jail. The separatist leader was arrested by police in a late night raid on February 22. His detention had come ahead of a crucial hearing on Article 35-A in Supreme Court. Malik was arrested from his Maisuma residence and was taken to the Kothibagh Police Station.

Two Kashmiris Abused, Thrashed on Busy Lucknow Street by Hindu Activists

March 07 In continuation of assaults against Kashmiris outside, Two dry fruit vendors from Kashmir were thrashed by a violent group of men on a busy road in Uttar Pradesh's capital Lucknow. In a video that has gone viral over the Social networking, the men wearing saffron dresses can be seen slapping, abusing and thrashing the Kashmiri vendor. The incident as per reports took place at around 5 pm on Wednesday in the Daliganj area of central Lucknow. Militants Escape After Brief Exchange of Gunfire at Handwara, Search Continues

March 06 An exchange of gunfire took place between Militants and Government Forces in the Badra area of Handwara in North Kashmir's Kupwara District  on Wednesday night. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that  RR of Indian Army, SOG of Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation in the area upon receiving a specific input about the presence of Militants in the area. As the troopers were conducting the search operations, the Militants opened fire upon forces, After initial contact, however, no fresh contact has been established yet. Sources said that no firing has been heard for the past half an hour. "Militants have likely escaped from the spot," Sources told The Kashmiriyat. However massive search operations are still being conducted in the area.

Despite the administrative officials time and again repeating the availability of food and essentials in the market in abundance, Mutton sellers have been blaming the less availability of the supplies for the extra rates. The meat consumption in Valley increases in the Winter months and in Ramadhan prompting the sellers to charge extra to make extra bucks. Zakir Musa’s affiliate Accused of Jalhandar Bombings Arrested by NIA

March 06 National Investigation Agency on Wednesday arrested an alleged affiliate of Zakir Musa from Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district for alleged his involvement in a grenade blast at Jalandhar area of Punjab in September last year. The NIA claimed involvement of Ansar Ghazawat-ul-Hind (AGH) headed by Zakir Musa in the four grenade blasts in which one policeman was injured on September 14 last year. “Today NIA arrested accused Amir Nazir Mir son o Nazir Ahmed Mir of Dadsara, Awantipora of Pulwama district (in south) Kashmir in case RC- 39/2018/NIA/DLI registered in connection with grenade attack on Police Station Maksudan in district Jalandhar, Punjab from Awantipora, Pulwama,” the NIA said in a press release. Graduation Student from Shopian Goes Missing

March 06 A 22 year old boy from Shopian in South Kashmir has went missing from his home since Tuesday morning. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Mohammed Amin Bhat son of Ghulam Mohuddin Bhat, a resident of Poterwal Area in South Kashmir's Shopian has been missing from his home. Amin, as per his family members, had left home to appear in the exams at Government Degree College (GDC) of Pulwama. The family has sought the help of people in locating the missing youth. UN Warns India Over Harassment of Muslims

March 06 The United Nations human rights chief Michelle Bachelet has warned India that its “divisive policies” could undermine economic growth.
