Encounter between Militants and Forces Starts in Kashmir’s Kulgam- Internet Snapped

An Encounter broke out between government forces and militants at wanpora in Redwani rea of Kulgam district on Saturday morning. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched in the area by joint team of forces including 01 RR, CRPF and Kulgam Police on specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area in wee hours of Saturday. An official said that, after trapping the militants, they were asked to surrender, however, opened fire, which was retaliated, thus triggering an encounter. Locals said that massive gunshots are being heard in the area, slow mobile internet services have also been barred in the district.

The Administrative Council (AC) which met under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor, G C Murmu, accorded sanction to the extension of coverage of Jammu Kashmir Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS) to transgenders, by including them as beneficiaries under the Scheme. Earlier, the transgenders did not qualify for financial benefits under ISSS. However, with this decision of the Administrative Council, the transgenders will be able to benefit from ISSS.
