Sheikh Nadeem The inhabitants of Gujjar Basti in Batagund top in South Kashmir’s Islamabad (Anantnag) district on Friday alleged that the government has failed to  provide basic amenities to them. “Our area is yet to be connected through a road link and we have to walk several miles from Batagund Top to reach other destinations,” the residents of Gujjar Basti, Batagund Top Dooru told The Kashmiriyat. “Due to the absence of the road the elderly people, particularly the patients and expecting mothers, have to face many hardships as they have to walk several miles to reach a hospital, The problem worsens during winter. Chinese Troopers Spotted in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh

The Chinese troopers have been spotted in areas of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, the Quint reported. The report by Quint quoted officials as saying that the Thuraya satellite phones used by the Chinese have been intercepted to be within Indian territory in other sectors. The report come weeks after a violent face-off in the Galwan valley left twenty Indian treeopers dead. “Last week, India intercepted the presence of Chinese patrols in Shipki La twice. This region, a mountain pass, falls in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh and runs to Ngari Prefecture in Tibet. Both the times they were at least 15 kilometres inside the Indian territory,” the report noted. Woman from Kashmir Among 27 Rescued from Bangalore Brothel

As many as 27 women including one from Jammu Kashmir have been rescued from a brothel in Bengaluru in a Central Crime Branch police raid on Thursday night, an official said on Friday. “On Thursday night CCB women’s wing lead by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mudvi and team detected a prostitution racket and raided a big brothel house,” said CCB Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Kuldeep Jain to IANS. Among the rescued women, Jain said there were nine each from Nepal and Punjab, four from Delhi, two from Maharashtra and one each from Jammu Kashmir, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh. “Main pimp Yogesh from Rajasthan and two others have also been arrested,” said Jain.

A 70-year-old man from north Kashmir's Baramulla district died on Friday afternoon at CD hospital, thus taking the overall toll of deaths due to the virus in Jammu and Kashmir to 118. Dr Saleem Tak, Medical Superintendent at CD hospital told that a 70-year-old man from Baramulla, who was tested positive for COVID-19 and was referred from SMHS on Thursday, died at CD hospital on Friday afternoon. The patient was very critical and was on ventilator, he said, adding that the patient was suffering from Hypertension, Diabetes, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and other ailments. The United Nations (UN) on Thursday stated that more than 800 people were killed or wounded in “deliberate attacks” targeting Afghani civilians in just the first half of 2020. The UN raised concerns about the increase in violence being aimed at derailing peace talks. Although in February, the violence had dropped amid the signing of a peace deal between the United States and the Taliban, immediately after the three-day ceasefire in May- attacks had risen across the country. UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said the Taliban were responsible for half of the reported casualties.
