3 Months Post his Release From PSA- Advocate Zahid Ali Re-booked Booked Under PSA

Nearly three months after his release from Public safety Act, the authorities on Friday booked Advocate Zahid Ali, a former Jamaat e Islami member under Public Safety Act (PSA) and shifted him to Central Jail Srinagar.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat the family of Zahid Ali said that he was taken away by Jammu Kashmir police on 30 June from his residence Nehama, Pulwama, and detained at the Police Station Kakapora, he was later shifted to Srinagar Central Jail and subsequently booked under Public Safety Act.

Police in its dossier mentioned that “Zahid Ali provoked the general public and released pro-independence/anti-India slogans, instigated people for stone pelting upon security forces and police deployment, besides close associate of Nonagenarian Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani and former chief of JeI Ghulam Mohammad Bhat.”

Zahid Ali, who was Political Bureau Head and Chief Spokesperson of banned Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir, was earlier detained on 22, March 2019, a week before when Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) banned the outfit for involving in subversive and militant related activities in Jammu Kashmir, he was later released on 11 April 2020.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat The Family condemning his detention has said, “The family has decided to challenge this illegal and unconstitutional detention order in the High Court and seek redressal of the grievances caused by the illegal, unethical and unjust detention order.”

They also said that the charges leveled against Zahid have no connection even remotely with any unlawful or illegal activity. “The fresh detention grounds are the replica of the same false allegations as contained in earlier two detention orders, both of which were earlier quashed by the High Court.”
