Lockdown Update: Markets to Reopen in Srinagar Today from 11 AM to 5 PM

The District Magistrate Srinagar, Dr. Shahid Chowdhary in an order issued on 4.08.2020, has lifted restrictions on markets and public transport in Srinagar allowing regulated resumption. This decision comes after careful consideration and deliberations. The order permits the reopening of 50% of shops and boarding of 50% of passengers in public transport. Market associations will prepare a roster so that alternate shops will open to prevent crowding. The District Magistrate said that he has full faith in the business and trading communities to follow the guidelines and SOPs.

IED Detected and Defused in Budgam

The Security forces, today, claimed to have averted a major tragedy after they detected an IED in Central Kashmir's Budgam district. Talking to media persons, a senior police officer said that an IED was planted by militants under a bridge near Tujan village in Budgam district. The bridge connects Tujan and Dalwan. He, further said that a major tragedy was averted.

High Speed Internet has been Restored in 2 Districts of Jammu Kashmir

High Speed internet has been restored on trial basis in 2 districts of Jammu Kashmir, Ganderbal and Udhampur, respectively. The decision, to restore high speed internet will  again be reviewed on 8 September. meanwhile, in other districts 2G services will continue. It is pertinent to mention here that the supreme court in a very calibrated decision had allowed, on trial basis, high speed internet to be restored in areas with low threshold of militant activities, with strict monitoring.

Elderly Man Injured in Bear Attack Dies

PULWAMA, REGIONAL, SOUTH KASHMIR
An elderly man was injured in an attack by a bear on Friday in Khana Gund, Tral which is a district of Pulwama succumbed to his injuries in a hospital today in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. The man was a 60 - year old who took his herd of cattle for grazing in the stretches that are uphill of Tral when the bear attacked him. An official said following the attack that some people raised hue and cry and rescued him from the bear. However, by that time the victim had sustained serious face injuries. The injured was later shifted to a hospital and treated for his injuries. The deceased has now been identified as Abdul Gani Sheikh S/O Abdul Wahab who were residents of Khangund, Tral.

Residents Irked at J&K Bank’s Poor ATM Facility in Lawaypora

Irshad Hussain Amid COVID 19, the residents of Gund Hassi Bhat, Sozait, Lawaypora are facing immense problems due to the poor ATM facility in the area. Locals alleged that they have to travel miles to swipe their cards on different ATM's. Many complaints have been registered about this issue, but no action has been taken and the ATM remains closed. Motorcyclist Killed in Pahalgam Accident

An accident happened in Pahalgam area of South Kashmir's Anantnag district when a motorcycle collided with a load carrier. According to official sources, the motorcyclist died on the spot after a collision between load carrier (JK03E-2644) and motorcycle (JK03-0554) took place near Tool Plaza Pahalgam. He has been identified as Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh, son of Abdul Rehman Sheikh of Laripora Pahalgam.

Man Shot Dead in Pulwama

A  40 year old man was shot dead by alleged militants in Kangan area of South Kashmir's Pulwama district on Saturday.
