Cloud Burst in Tral Leaves One Dead and Five Injured

REGIONAL, SOUTH KASHMIR
One person was killed and 5 others are reportedly injured in a cloud burst in Brenpatri area of Tral, Pulwama District on Sunday. A Police Official confirmed the incident. The deceased was identified as 35 year-old Sadiq Doei Shadi S/O Bashir Doei who were residents of Katra Road, Udhampur. The residents have also asked DC, Pulwama for immediate assistance and relief fund for family of the deceased. Choudhary Showkat Shabir who is a student activist for the Tribal community and member of the Gujjar Bakarwal Youth Welfare (GBYW) in Jammu and Kashmir tweeted about the unfortunate calamity. Shah Basit / Rayees Shah The traffic movement on Srinagar-Leh highway was closed on Sunday after being hit by a landslide triggered by heavy rains at Shah Mohallah Kullan area of Gund in Central Kashmir's, Ganderbal district. Talking to media, the official said that the flash floods were caused due to cloudbursts as well as heavy rains near Shah Mohallah Kullan due to which vehicles have been left stranded on both sides, however, no loss of life was reported in the incident. Sheikh Nadeem Kashmiri Pandits stage protest against administration for failing to provide proper accommodation to Pandit families under PM package Employees in Vessu village of Qazigund, Kulgam district. The  Kashmiri Pandit protestors said, “we settled back in 2010. We are 1400 families in which only 328 are living inside quarters and other families are still living in rented rooms, we demand the administration to provide us with proper accommodation”. The protesters shouted slogans against the administration for building quarters for outsiders and not for the KP community. A defense spokesperson of the Indian Army said that the Pakistan Army shelled mortars at forwarding areas along the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday morning, prompting retaliation by the Indian Army. When last reports were received from the shelling Mankote sector, no reports of any casualties were found, the spokesperson said. "At about 6.45 am, Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and shelling mortars along LoC in the Mankote sector.
