BJP’s Manoj Sinha Appointed as the New Lieutenant Governor of JK

Girish Chandar Murmu, the First lieutenant Governor of Jammu Kashmir, on 5th August, yesterday resigned from his post. The Rashtrapati Bhawan spokesman, in a statement, said, “The resignation of GC Murmu has been accepted." Adding further, the statement said, “The President is pleased to announce Shri Manoj Sinha, as the new Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.” Manoj Sinha is the former union minister and a senior BJP leader from Uttar Pradesh. The 61-year-old, Sinha is from Mohanpura of Ghazipur district of eastern UP and has been actively involved in working for the backward villages of eastern Uttar Pradesh. He has been elected to Lok sabha twice, 1996, and 1999.

Pakistan Ready for a Session Outside OIC if Kashmir Meeting Delayed or Not Held

Pakistan Foreign Minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi warned the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which is led by Saudi Arabia to stop their excuses on the convening of a meeting of its Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) on Jammu Kashmir. In a talk show, Mr. Qureshi said, “I am once again respectfully telling OIC that a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers is our expectation. BJP Sarpanch Shot Dead by Militants in Qazigund, Kulgam

Suspected Militants shoot dead BJP sarpanch, Sajad Ahmad Khanday. The sarpanch was shot by suspected militants outside his residence at Vessu village of Qazigund area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district. Sajad was rushed to the hospital, GMC Anantnag but the medical Superintendent, Mohammad Iqbal Sofi declared him brought dead. Pertinently, the attacks on Panchs and Sarpanchs have increased in the valley. This is the second attack in two days, earlier Arif Ahmad, a Panch of Qazigund was critically injured in one such attack.

Qazi, on Thursday received a call at around 2:15 PM, from the Cyber Police Station, Srinagar, summoning him for questioning. The next day, Friday, Qazi Shibli presented himself before the Cyber Police and was detained under unknown charges, after eight hours of ‘questioning’. On 1st August, Shibli was taken to PCR hospital for reasons not known to the family or his organization. He was later shifted from Sher Ghari police station to Central Jail, Srinagar. Authorities Issue Order to Curb Unnecessary Movements in Jammu

The authorities, on Wednesday, issued an order to restrict the movement of individuals for all non - essential activities in Jammu district. District Magistrate, Sushma Chahun issued an order to prohibit the movement o for all non-essential activities between 10 PM to 5 AM in the territorial limits of the District from August 5, 2020, till further orders. Any violation of this order will be strictly dealt with under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code and other relevant sections of Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, and the Disaster Management Act, 2005. It’s important to note here that there has been a spike in COVID cases in Jammu district.

Kendriya Vidyalaya to Come up at Kreeri, Baramulla

The Government has decided to transfer 50 canals of land to School & Education Department. The Administrative Council (AC), which met here under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor, G C Murmu, approved allotment and transfer of land measuring 50 canals to the School Education Department at village Hail Jageer, Tehsil Kreeri in District Baramulla for construction of Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) in Kashmir.
