Panel of Delhi Assembly Summons Facebook Vice President Over Avoiding ‘Hate Speech’

A Delhi Assembly panel has issued a notice to Facebook India vice president and managing director Ajit Mohan asking him to appear before it on September 15 in connection with complaints about the social media platform’s alleged deliberate and intentional inaction to contain hateful content in the country. “Summon was issued on the basis of scathing depositions of the key witnesses as well as incriminating material submitted by them on record,” an official statement stated on Saturday. The Jammu Kashmir Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested three persons alleged for their role in pasting posters and displaying banners of militants in Pampore town of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. One Dead, 3 Injured in Tral Road Mishap

Mohammad Mufeez A person was killed while three sustained injuries in a road mishap in South Kashmir’s Tral on Saturday. Talking to The Kashmiriyat, a local said that a load carrier Auto Skidded at Paner Jageer, Tral on early Saturday, resulting in the on spot death of a perosn while three others sustained injuries in the mishap. All injured persons were shifted to nearby hospital for advanced treatment. They are said to be stable now. The deceased has been identified as Ab Rahman parry from Koil ShiKargah Tral, while the injured have been identified as Mohd Yaqoob Gujar from Karmullah Tral,Bilal Ahmad Bhat from Koil ShiKargah Tral and his wife injured. The special court of NIA in Kochi granted bail to two students, who were arrested for alleged Maoist links in November last year and were facing charges under UAPA. Allan Shuhaib, 20, a law student , and Thwaha Fazal, 24, a journalism student, were arrested in Kozhikode by local police and charged under Sections 38 and 39 of UAPA and Section 120B of IPC.
