Avalanche Hits Zojila Pass- Passengers Escape Miraculously

Rayees Shah/ Shah Basit Passengers who were travelling in a Xylo Vehicle Saturday had a narrow escape from being hit by a snow avalanche on Srinagar-Leh Road near Zojila Pass. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that a Xylo Vehicle bearing registration JK07/4604 who were travelling from Srinagar to Kargil after Srinagar-Leh Highway re-opened for light motor vehicles got stuck near Zojila, however in the meantime a massive snow avalanche hit it and passengers mericulously escaped from the vehicle. Thousands of devotees throng into the shrine people travelled from neighbouring areas to show their presence by reaching Dialgam shrine with hope and fait Devotees including men, women, children were seen to offer special prayers on the eve of urs, where they recited verses of Holy Qur’an, which was followed by Duaiya Majlis. The Shrine was decorated by the caretakers of the shrine while the volunteers had erected banners displaying the greeting message of the day. During the special prayers, religious clerics threw light on the teachings of the revered Sufi Saint.

Shabir Khan A 40-year-old man died after being hit by a speedy vehicle in Sopore area of North Kashmir on Saturday. An official told The Kashmiriyat that a speedy vehicle hit a man near Amargrah area of Sopore and fled from the spot, injuring the man critically. The ma identified s Nizam u Din Krankoo son of Ghulam Qadir Krankoo, a resident of Umerabad in Amargrah Sopore was rushed to the sub-district hospital Sopore, where he was declared brought dead on arrival. The Jamu Kashmir Police started a manhant to nab the accused and within two hours arrested the driver, also his vehicle was siezed.

The first phase of DDC elections 2020 recorded a voter percentage of 22.12 % across different constituencies spread over all the districts of Jammu and Kashmir till 11:00 AM. As per the figures given by the office of State Election Commissioner, in Kashmir Division, Kupwara has recorded a voting percentage of 13.492%, Bandipora 17.874%, Baramulla 12.196%, Ganderbal 23.144%, Srinagar 10.641%, Budgam 28.472%, Pulwama 3.514 %, Shopian 29.341%, Kulgam 14.911% and Anantnag 23.462% till 11.00 am. Similarly, in Jammu division, Kishtwar has recorded voting percentage of 14.436%, Doda 25.181%, Ramban 33.392%, Reasi 30.346%, Udhampur 22.432 %, Kathua 24.262%, Samba 36.403%, Jammu 29.166 %, Rajouri 33.178% and Poonch 32.113% till 11:00 AM.
