Poonch: Body of Drowned Minor Girl Retrieved After 4 Days

Body of a nine-year-old girl, who had drowned in a river in Bedar Mandi area in Poonch on Wednesday last, has been retrieved this afternoon. As reported, the minor girl Aasiya Bano daughter of Mohammad Shareef was part of a group taking bath inside a river at her native village, when the incident occurred. A joint rescue operation was subsequently launched by SDRF, police assisted by locals soon after the incident and on sustained efforts for four consecutive days, the body was found and retrieved from the water body near Jalian this afternoon. Body of a mentally unsound person was found beneath a bridge in Poonch district on Saturday, officials said. They said the body of the man, who used to wander in the area, was spot by some passerby who informed the police. Accordingly, the body was recovered at around 8:30 hours from the banks of river below the Sher-e-Kashmir Bridge Poonch and taken into the possession by Police.
