The Jammu Kashmir Police claimed to have three persons with arms and ammunition in Malpora area of Mir Bazaar in South Kashmir's Kulgam district on Friday. In an official communique, the police said that on the basis of specific information regarding the movement of “Anti-National elements”, the Police in Kulgam along with 1 Rastriya Rifles of Indian Army and 46 BN of CRPF established Naka at Malpora Mir Bazar Crossing, Qazigund. The Jammu Kashmir police on Friday claimed to have arrested a militant of LeT outfit in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Pulwama police and security forces apprehended a categorised militant identified as Shamim Sofi son of Ghulam Mohammad Sofi of Nikloora. Mother-Daughter Duo Washed Away in Flash Floods in Rajouri

A mother-daughter duo are feared dead after they were washed away in flash floods while working in their fields at Chatyari area of Rajouri district last night, officials said. They said that there were flash floods close to a nallah (rivulet) during the intervening night of September 30 and October 1 in Chatyari. Two women Gulzar Begam( 60) wife of Mohammad Akbar and her daughter Maqsooda Begun (40) were washed away. Soon after getting the information, a police team rushed to the spot and joined locals in tracing out the duo. 52-Year-Old Man Killed In Bear Attack at Palbuth Soaf Shali, Kokernag

Sheikh Nadeem/Waris Shah A 52-year-old man was mauled to death by a wild bear in Soaf Shali in Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday. Locals said that the man identified as Abdul Rasheed Bhat son of Mohd Sultan Bhat was attacked in Palbuth, while he took his cattle out for grazing. Bhat was grievously injured by a wild bear in his native village of Soafshali, Kokernag. Soon, the locals rushed towards the spot but found Rasheed dead, here. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that at least 3 wild bears were roaming in the area, while they had also tried to enter nearby houses. The wild bears pose a great threat tonthe residents of Bhat Mohallah Soafshali. The residents, here, appealed to district admin take step to capture these wild bears.

21-Day-Old Militant likely Killed in Shopian Encounter

Meer Irfan The encounter in the Shopian district that raged early on Friday morning has ended with the killing of one Militant, officials said Friday. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, an official had earlier said that on Friday morning Militants fired upon forces during a cordon and search operation in Rakhama area of Shopian. During the exchange of gunfire, one Militant has been killed, he said. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the slain Militant has been identified as 23-year-old Mujeeb Lone son of Mohd Amin Lone resident of Redwani Bala area of Kulgam. They said that Mujeeb was active since the 9th day of September, 2021.

Militant Killed in Ongoing Encounter in Shopian

Meer Irfan  One Militant has been killed in an encounter that raged between government forces and militants in Rakhama area of South Kashmir's Shopian district on Friday morning. An official speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that the Government Forces including Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force and Jammu Kashmir Police had jointly launched a cordon and search operation in the area. During the cordon, he said, the hiding Militants opened fire on forces around 5 AM, to which the forces retaliated. During the exchange of gunfire, one Militant has been killed, who is yet to be identified, the official said. As per the locals from the area, the firing has stopped, however massive searches are still underway.
