In Bihar, At least six Sikhs assaulted for not donating for ‘temple construction’

At least six Sikhs were assaulted by a mob in Bhojpur, Bihar after they allegedly refused to make a donation for the construction of a temple, Police said on Monday. As per news reports, around 60 devotees were returning to Mohali in Punjab after visiting the Takht Sri Harimandir Ji at Patna Sahib, when they were stopped for donations for the construction of a temple. The truck driver refused to give any ‘Chanda’. Soon, a scuffle broke out between the truck driver and the people. In support of the truck driver, the Sikh devotees also got involved. In the scuffle that ensued, half-a-dozen Sikh devotees were injured, a Police official said. The police have arrested at least five persons in connection with the incident.

Amid a massive spike in Covid cases in the valley, Kashmir University has deferred all the exams scheduled from January 18. Several students had demanded the postponing of exams amid the resurge in Covid 19 cases in Kashmir. As per a notice from the office of the controller of examinations, KU, all the exams ongoing and scheduled exams of the university w.e.f 18 January have been postponed. "The revised dates for the deferred examinations shall be notified separately in due course of time," the notice read.
