Irfan Ahmed Sheikh from Pulwama district’s Karimabad who went missing on 17 January 2022 has been killed during an encounter in the Nambal area of Awantipora in Pulwama district. A double storey residential house was gutted in a massive fire in Sangam area of Bijbehara in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday evening. Reports reaching GNS that a massive fire broke out in a residential house belonging to one Feroz Ahmad Dar Son of Abdul Raheem Dar in Sangam Bijbehara. Soon after, fire and emergency department employees assisted by police and locals launched an operation to douse off the flames in a highly congested locality. Six Persons Die Due To Virus, Active Cases Now At 3168 Daily Covid cases in Jammu and Kashmir fell to 30-day low, with 686 infections reported in the last 24 hours even as six persons succumbed to the virus during the time, officials said on Monday. Regarding the fresh cases, the officials told GNS that 312 were reported from Jammu Division and 374 from Kashmir Valley, taking the overall count to 447334. J&K had reported 655 cases on January 8 and 687 on January 9. Four of the fresh deaths due to the virus were from Jammu Division and two from Kashmir Valley, taking the toll to 4721. 2311 of the deaths so far has been reported from Jammu and 2410 in Kashmir Valley.
