Shopian village decries ‘fatty’ bills dispatched by PDD

Villagers especially women folk from South Kashmir’s Shopian village Monday blocked the road and staged a massive protest against Power Development Department.

The villagers from Tullihalan Sedaw hamlet alleged that PDD is dispatching fatty bills to them every month, exacting extra money even though the village faces erratic power cuts.

The protesters raised slogans against Power Development Department saying the department is unilaterally dispatching huge power bills much to the discomfiture of the people.

One of the protesters told news agency Kashmir News Trust that the unilateral increase of power fee is unacceptable to them and they will not pay any penny till the Department comes out clear on the issue.

The protesters demanded immediate revocation of the electricity bills. They appealed to authorities to look into the matter. (KNT
