A magician who posed as a beggar has allegedly looted cash besides gold from a residential house in Ichgam area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Friday. The family members according to news agency Kashmir Dot Com said that a beggar came to their house and requested for tea and on humanitarian ground we provided him tea. They said while having tea he started asking different questions and asked about the wellbeing of our daughter who remains unwell. Petrol and diesel prices were hiked by 80 paise a litre each today, the fourth increase in five days as oil firms passed on to consumers the spike in cost of raw material. Petrol in Delhi will now cost ₹ 98.61 per litre as against ₹ 97.81 previously while diesel rates have gone up from ₹ 89.07 per litre to ₹ 89.87, according to a price notification of state fuel retailers. All the four increases since the ending of a four-and-half-month long hiatus in rate revision on March 22, have been of 80 paise a litre. Delhi Police has lodged an FIR against the owner of a hotel in Delhi which allegedly denied a room to a Kashmiri youth having J&K ID. The video of the receptionist refused to accept the youth’s ID had gone viral on social media. The District Magistrate (DM), Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya today during a surprise inspection in Government offices found 07 employees of Municipal Committee Shopian and 20 employees of R&B division Shopian including one senior officer absent from their duties. Taking serious note of their unauthorized absence, the DM said that stern action shall be initiated against the absentees under rules. The DM also called for explanations from the officer/officials, who were found absent during the inspection.
