Residents of Thajiwara Achabal in this south Kashmir’s district blocked Anantnag-Achabal road and staged protest against Jal Shakti Department for “failing” to provide drinking water supply to the area. According to the protesters, mainly women, the residents face acute shortage of drinking water supply. They alleged that they have brought the issue to the notice of concerned department several times but to no avail They appealed the authorities to provide them the drinking water at an earliest so as to alleviate them of the routine sufferings. “The concerned department and government make only tall claims but we do not get drinking water,” the protesters said as per reports reaching GNS and urged higher authorities of concerned department to redress the issue with reasonable haste....

Police in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district booked a teacher of a private school on Wednesday on charges of corporal punishment. Police initiated action against the teacher following a complaint lodged by the child’s father at Police Station Beerwah.
