Anti Corruption Bureau sleuths Wednesday arrested a Computer operator working in the office of Superintending Engineer, Public Works Department (R&B) Circle, Ganderbal for allegedly accepting bribe. “Anti Corruption Bureau received a complaint wherein the complaint alleged that in order to release the Contractor Card-D in favour of the complainant, Rafiq Ahmad Sheikh, Computer Operator in the office of Superintending Engineer, Public Works Department (R&B) Circle, Ganderbal is demanding Rs. 8000/- as bribe. Danishwar Hameed A former BJP member has been shot at in the Srandoo area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district by unknown gunmen. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that one Mohammed Yaqoob Dar, son of Abdul Razaq, resident of Kulpora who was a Panch and had contested elections independently was shot at on Wednesday night. He has been critically wounded in the firing and was shifted to the nearby hospital. "He, however, succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital," the official said. The slain joined BJP some six months back but had quit the party a few days ago, Sources told. Government forces reached the spot and launched a search operation in the area to nab the attackers.

Chandan Jindal, who hailed from Punjab's Barnala, reportedly died after suffering from an Ischemic stroke. A 22-year-old Indian student passed away in Ukraine, as the country fights a war with Russia after being invaded a week ago. The student, identified as Chandan Jindal, hailed from Punjab's Barnala and was a medical student at National Pirogov Memorial Medical University, Vinnytsya. The Resident Commission (RC), J&K New Delhi has established a help desk at the New Delhi Airport to provide assistance to the evacuees from Ukraine. The students of J&K arriving in New Delhi from Ukraine were received today at the Airport by the officers of Resident Commission. The staff of Resident Commission J&K assisted them by all possible means on their arrival. Boarding and lodging arrangements have also been made for those staying over in New Delhi. Jammu Kashmir reported 36 fresh Covid-19 cases even as there was no death due to the virus in the last 24 hours, officials said on Wednesday. They said 18 of the fresh cases were reported from Jammu Division and as many from Kashmir Division, taking the overall tally to 453088. Giving district wise details, the officials told GNS, Srinagar reported 13 cases, Baramulla 1, Budgam 2, Pulwama 0, Kupwara 2, Anantnag 0, Bandipora 0, Ganderbal 0, Kulgam 0, Shopian 0, Jammu 11, Udhampur 0, Rajouri 1, Doda 5, Kathua 0, Samba 0, Kishtwar 0, Poonch 0, Ramban 0 and Reasi 1. There was no death reported in the last 24 hours, they said. So far 4748 persons have succumbed to the virus—2325 in Jammu and 2423 in Kashmir.
