Parents of students stuck in Ukraine stage protest in Jammu, Demand speedy evacuation

On Wednesday, the distressed families of students stranded in Ukraine Wednesday staged a protest in Jammu city demanding the immediate evacuation of their children from the war-torn country.

Holding placards and raising slogans, the distressed families said that the Government was not doing enough to evacuate their children. “The Government has terribly failed to deal with the crisis. They are making false claims and India has been completely isolated,” a protesting parent said.

“We need prayers of our fellow citizens for their safety,” a protesting parent said.

They said their fear has triggered after a Karnataka student was killed in shelling in Ukraine and they want their children to be away from harm.

Meanwhile, the Jammu Kashmir admin has said that it was in touch with the families of all the students stranded in Ukraine.

“Nine evacuation flights have so far brought back around 2,000 Indians stranded in Ukraine since February 26,” the Indian Government said.

The Indian Government said that 31 evacuation flights will be operated till March 8 to neighboring countries of Ukraine and 6,300 Indians will be brought back in those flights.
