2 persons fell unconscious while cleaning well in Potashi Kupwara

Two persons fell unconscious inside a well while cleaning it in Potashi area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday. The incident took place around noon when the duo, Abdul Quyoom Sofi (37) and Rafeeq Ahmad Wangoo (40), both locals, were cleaning the well and fell unconscious apparently consuming some gas, official sources told GNS. One person namely Tariq Ahmad Mir, also a local, saw them falling unconscious and immediately entered the well and with the help of others rescued them, they said. The duo was immediately shifted to Sub District hospital Kupwara and are under treatment, they added. (GNS)

The bulldozers of Municipal corporation Delhi have reached Muslim-dominated Shaheen Bagh area of Delhi for an anti-encroachment drive. However, locals in large numbers protested against the MCD's action when they sat on roads to block bulldozers. Apart from locals, scores of political leaders and activists reached the Shaheen Bagh, which was the epicenter of anti-CAA protests. Shaheen Bagh falls under the central zone of SDMC directly under the control of BJP Government at the centre. Meer Irfan An encounter has started between militants and Government forces at Heff Shermal area of South Kashmir's Shopian district. A Police official said that on Monday 1RR of the Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about militant presence in the area laid a cordon and search operation in the Shopian area. During the cordon, the hiding Militants opened fire on the troopers triggering an encounter. As per the latest reports, the Government forces have evacuated the civilians near the encounter site which is a residential house.

Police on Monday arrested two persons for beating youth to death in central Kashmir's Budgam district. A senior police officer told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the two persons were held in connection with the death of a person identified as Fayaz Ahmed Najar son of Abdul Rashid Najar resident of Gurwaith Khansaib. He identified the arrested duo as Tahir Bashir Khan son of Bashir Ahmed Khan and Hilal Ahmed Lone son of Abdul Ganie Lone residents of Kachwari Khansaib. Police registered a case after a 24-year-old carpenter from Central Kashmir’s Budgam district allegedly died during a scuffle in Kachwari village of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday morning. Local sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that during a scuffle between two persons, Fayaz Ahmed Najar son of Abdul Rashid, a resident of Gurweith suffered a head injury. He was taken to Sub-District Hospital Khansahab where doctors referred him to SKIMS but he died on way. Sources added that the scuffle between the duo ensued over some matter.
