The clash in Kashmir University and Jamia Milia Islamia University Entrance Test, scheduled both June 22 has left the aspirants of Kashmir Valley at a crossroads. A group of aggrieved aspirants told news agency Kashmir News Trust that Kashmir University and Jamia Milia Islamia in New Delhi have scheduled entrance tests for various postgraduate programs on the same date (22 June this month), creating a situation where the aspirants who wish to appear in both the exams have been left to make a hard choice. The candidates from Kashmir Valley are in a fix as they cannot appear in both the examinations on the same date. Danishwar Hameed An encounter has started between militants and Government forces in the Mishipora area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Tuesday, a joint group of 1RR,  CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about militant presence in Mishipora of Kulgam's Redwani area, launched a cordon and search operation. The hiding militants opened fire on the troopers during the cordon, triggering an encounter. 2-3 militants are believed to be trapped in the area. Stray dogs have unleashed a reign of terror in Ajas village of north Kashmir's Bandipora district, leaving at least two dozen individuals wounded in a span of just four days. An earthquake of magnitude 5.1 on the Richter scale hit Jammu Kashmir on Tuesday afternoon, officials said. They told GNS that an earthquake, with epicentre at Afghanistan-Tajikistan border was felt at 1.05 pm. Strong tremors were felt, causing panic among people, they said. 12-year-old girl killed by a predator in Boniyar Baramulla

After two incidents in last few days involving killing of two children, a 12-year-old girl has now fallen prey to a predator at Batangi Boniyar in Baramulla district. Reports reaching GNS said that a girl identified as Rutba Manzoor daughter of Manzoor Ahmad Bhat was pounced upon by a wild animal and taken away to nearby forests this morning. Alerted by the cries, the family and locals tried to chase the animal, possibly a leopard, however the beast disappeared in the dense forests with the child. After strenuous efforts, the child was found dead by the locals. The Maharashtra Anti-militancy Squad has arrested a man from Jammu and Kashmir in a case of recruitment of operatives for a militant organisation and funding, an ATS official said on Tuesday.
