Kashmir reports 8 casualties in July; ‘Least’ in 2022 so far

Four local militants and an ‘infiltrator’ were killed this month in Kashmir Valley. This month (July) 6 gunfights raged between militants and joint forces, however, in two encounters, militants managed to escape from the encounter spot. The data available with the news agency Kashmir News Trust reveals that 5 militants, a soldier, a trooper and a policeman were killed in Kashmir Valley in the month of July. A soldier and an infiltrator were killed in Tanghdar Sector of Kupwara on 8 July while on 11 July two militants including Kaisar Rashid Koka of Tengpora Keigam and Ishfaq Nabi Lone of Lelhar Pulwama were killed in South Kashmir’s Wandakpora Awantipora encounter. The militant killed in the overnight encounter in the Binner area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district has been identified as a local resident of the Pattan area, who was associated with the Lashkar e Taiba militant outfit. A senior police officer told that the joint forces including the Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF had laid a cordon and search operation in the Binner area of Baramulla, during which the militant fired upon the force, which led to an encounter. Missing since 16 July, Kupwara militant killed in Baramulla encounter: Police

Police on Saturday identified the newly recruited militant affliated with Jaish-i-Muhammad oufit as a resident of Kupwara, who was killed today during a gunfight in Baramulla. The killed militant has been identified as Akhtar Hussain Bhat Alias Abid Bhai son of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat resident of Trich Kupwara, a top police officer confirmed to GNS. He was missing since 16th July this year from his residence, the officer added. Earlier today a gunfight broke out between militants and security forces in Wanigam Bala area of Baramulla. Meer Irfan The residents of Mantribug area in Shopian district of south Kashmir are aghast over the patehtic condition of the roads. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, locals said that the road has developed potholes which makes it very difficult for the vehicles to pass over the road. "During rains, the roads appear like swimming pools and makes it impossible for locals to use the roads. We have complained to several officials, however, our demands have gone unaddressed so far," a group of Locals said. They added that substandard construction material was used for the construction of the road which has led to such pathetic condition of the road. Residents appealed the local admin to intervene at the earliest.

Rayees Shah Locals in Hardapanzoo area of Budgam are up in arms against the PHE (water supply) Department over the non-availability of water in their area.
