The Rashtriya Svayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has underlined the need to evolve a policy for population control in the country. Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale, while addressing a press conference at the conclusion of the four-day meeting of the Akhil Bhartiya Karyakari Mandal of the RSS on Wednesday, said, the population boom in the country was a matter of concern. “This is especially important in view of limited resources in the country. The Hindu Jana Jagruthi Samithi, Sri Rama Sena, Raastra Rakshana Pade and Vishva Hindu Sanatana Parishat on Thursday started a door-to-door campaign in connection with boycotting halal certified products during the Diwali festivities. Mutahida Ulema e Ahli Sunnat (MUAS), an umbrella organization of religious outfits in the Kashmir valley, on Wednesday, asked the Jammu Kashmir admin to withdraw the order allowing the sale of beer in urban areas. Apple growers worried about untimely snow in Kashmir have started early pruning of trees with experts terming it an unscientific move. Growers from different areas of Kashmir told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that about 30-40 percent fruit is yet to be plucked but several growers have started pruning trees as they are fearful about untimely snowfall leading to damages. At least 50 animals were perished after lightening struck a seasonal house in Thanamandi area of Rajouri district. The incident took place in the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.
