Hajin (A) DDC constituency recorded a polling percentage of 34.43 till 11 am and Drugmulla 15.7%, officials said. The State Election Commission (SEC) had declared the polls of both the District Development Council (DDC) seats as “null and void” after two women from PaK contested the elections. Spanning across 30 Panchayats, a total of 32,000 voters would decide the fate of 10 candidates contesting elections on the Drugmulla seat.

Freezing temperature showed no signs of reprieve as Srinagar endured its coldest night of the winter so far with temperatures plummeting to minus 3.4°C on Monday. A grid station in Hiller area of Qazigund in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district was partially damaged in a fire incident on Monday morning. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the fire broke out in the grid station, located close to Pir Panchal Tunnel, today morning. He said soon after the incident fire tenders rushed to the spot and after hectic efforts fire was put off. “The grid stated suffered partial damage and the loss was being estimated,” he said—(KNO)

The election in the Drugmulla district development council (DDC) seat, which will witness polling on Monday, is being dubbed as a semi-final between National Conference and Peoples Conference in the north Kashmir’s Kupwara district before the first assembly election of Jammu  Kashmir Union Territory, which could be held in 2023 or 2024. A Kashmiri shawl vendor died in a road accident in Bengaluru area of state of Karnataka on Sunday. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that one Ali Mohammad Wani aged (45), who was a resident of Seer e Hamdan in south Kashmir's Anantnag district was hit by a vehicle in Bangalore Karnataka, when he was coming out of a train station, resulting in critical injuries to him. Ali Mohammed, a shawl seller by profession was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. "He had left his home just two days ago to sell shawls in Bangalore for the winter months," they said.
