Armed with knives, unknown persons steal gold, cash from Shopian woman

Meer Irfan Armed with knives, unknown persons entered a residential house in the Imam Sahib area of Shopian and decamped with gold and other valuable possessions. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat Shaheena wife of Nisar Ahmed, a resident of Arakhera Imam Sahib said that on Monday morning a person followed Shaheena when she was returning to her home. "The person followed me to the stairs and then asked me to handover my golden earrings. I initially refused doing so. But then he got out a knife and also asked me to handover the ring in my fingers," Shaheena said. The person also decamped with cash of rupees three thousand rupees approximately and threatened Shaheena to keep mum. A team of local police station has reached the spot and are investigating the matter.

A Policeman posted with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) shot dead four people, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector, on-board a train near the Palghar railway station in Maharashtra, an official said. "Four casualties, including the ASI, have been reported in the firing incident inside the Jaipur Express train (12956). The accused has been arrested. DCP North GRP has been informed," the Railway Protection Force has said, according to news agency ANI. The Border Security Force on Monday said that a Pakistani intruder was shot dead by its alert troops along the International Border in Jammu division today. A spokesperson of BSF told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that its troops gunned down the intruder when he ignored the repeated warnings and tried to flee after managing to cross the border fence near Jabowal border outpost in Arnia sector of Jammu district at around 1.45 AM today. Three new glacial lakes may be formed in Ladakh, a study conducted by geologists has revealed. The study states that the depth of lakes may range from 34 to 84 metres and will be formed due to the accelerated melting of the Himalayan Parkachik Glacier The study attributed the accelerated glacial retreat to ongoing climate warming, which also causes surface morphological or geological changes to glaciers. The study was conducted by the scientists of the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, headed by Dr Manish Mehta. Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday said it arrested a hybrid militantt of Al Badr outfit in Batamaloo area of Srinagar. Srinagar police in a Tweet, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) informed that a pistol and other ammunition was also recovered from him.
