3 Unidentified Militants Killed in Ongoing Shopian Encounter

Three militants have been killed during an  encounter that started in the Manihal area of Imam Sahib in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Monday.

Officials told The Kashmiriyat that during a gun battle, three unidentified Militants were killed and the search operation in the area is still going on.

They said that the identity of the Militants is yet to be confirmed.

Earlier an official told The Kashmiriyat that a joint team of 34 Rashtriya Rifles, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF following an input of Militant movement launched a cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the Shopian area.

“As the team of forces proceeded towards the suspected spot, the militants hiding in the area fired upon them from a house,” the official said.

The Forces retaliated to the firing and this resulted in a massive exchange of gunfire, the official said.

He said that during the exchange of gunfire, three unidentified Militants were killed. “Their bodies are yet to be retrieved,” the official told The Kashmiriyat.

As per the latest inputs, no firing has been heard at the site of the encounter, however all entry and exit points to the area blocked.

The search operation is still going on.

Meanwhile the internet services have been in snapped Shopian district.
