3 Years After it was Built, Rooftop of Degree College Anantnag Collapses Resulting into Damage worth Crores

The rooftop of Boys Government Degree College Anantnag collapsed on Friday afternoon due to heavy snowfall resulting in damages to the building and loss of crores of rupees.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Friday afternoon, the roof of the college building that was constructed in 2017 by the Department of Roads and Buildings with a cost of  7 crore, suddenly collapsed resulting in damage to property worth two crores.

They said that besides the rooftop, equipment like chairs, desks, trollies, racks, electronic and other digital equipment got damaged, the DC of Anantnag, Kuldeep Krishan Sidha also took a review of the damage.

“We will not spare all those found guilty in executing this project in a mischievous way”, the DC said adding, “I will write to the Commissioner Secretary, an administrative head of R&B in this regard so that whosoever showed negligence won’t go unpunished”.

Officials said that an enquiry has been launched to investigate the matter. The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Anantnag, Ghulam Hassan Sheikh will head the investigation team.

Meanwhile sources told The Kashmiriyat that the project was approved under Ali Mohammed Dar, who was the convener of the developmemt committee of Boys Degree College in Anantnag at that time.
