
Three youth from Pulwama district of South Kashmir have been detained and booked under the Public Safety Act.
The youth identified as Asif Ali, Mushtaq Ahmed lone and Ayesh Dar, all residents of Niloora area in Pulwama district after being slapped with PSA have been shifted to Jammu jail.
Pleading innocence, the families of one of the youth said that the trio were detained under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) for six months, after which they were bailed, however rather than being released, they were detained again and slapped with PSA and shifted to Jammu jail.
The SSP of Pulwama speaking to a local news agency CNS about their involvement as their parents claim innocence, he harshly said, “Who are you to question, we have briefed their parents” More ever he added that PSA was slapped By DC Pulwama.

A Senior official of the Police however said that the trio have been arrested for their role in Anti-National Activities, which including shielding and recruiting militants.
The controversial PSA, which came into force in 1978, was introduced to fight crimes like timber-smuggling, if someone is detained under the public safety act, she/ he may end up behind bars for up to two years, even without a trial for being a threat to public order. With Inputs from CNS
