73rd Republic Day celebrations held across Kashmir

Flag hoisting ceremonies, inspection of Parade, playing of patriotic songs, cultural events mark celebrations

A series of functions were held across Kashmir division with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour today in connection with the celebration of 73rd Republic-Day.

Republic Day is a prominent national festival celebrated every year to commemorate the day when the constitution of India officially came into force on January 26, 1950.

Hoisting of the National Flag was held amid impressive Parades and mega cultural events at all venues of functions organised at district, sub-division, Tehsil and block levels.

At Anantnag: The Republic Day function was held at GDC for Boys Khanabal, here today where Chairman District Development Council (DDC) Anantnag, Mohammad Yousuf Gorsi unfurled the National Flag and took salute at the parade.

The contingents from CRPF, J&K Police, IRP, NCC and 108 BN took part in the march-past.

Addressing the gathering, the DDC Chairman said that the nation is paying rich tributes to the leaders, freedom fighters and martyrs who made countless sacrifices for the freedom of the country. Glorifying their contributions, he said that it is the result of their supreme efforts that we are living in a free country.

Gorsi highlighted the Covid-19 mitigation efforts besides achievements made by the district under various priority areas including education, healthcare, languishing, back to village, district capex, agriculture and allied sectors, women and youth empowerment, MGNREGA, JJM, water and electricity supply to Anganwadi Centers and schools, rural development, macadamization and road connectivity, Social Welfare, Nasha Mukt Bharat, Industries, self employment and creation of durable and sustainable assets.

On the occasion, colorful cultural programmes on patriotic themes were presented by students and artists of the district.

The ceremony concluded with prize distribution for march past and cultural practices. Employees from various departments were also felicitated for exemplary public service.

Among others, DDC, PDSJ, DIG SKR, SSP, DDC members, President MCA, ADDC, BDC Chairpersons, officers from Army, CRPF and other security forces, ADCs, ASJ, CEO, ACP, ACR, CMO and other officers, ex-ministers, legislators besides general public were present during the celebrations.

The R-Day celebrations were also held at the District Court presided by Pr. Sessions Judge Anantnag, Sub Divisional Headquarters, Tehsil Headquarters, Community development blocks and various other public offices.

At Baramulla: Reiterating that nation is progressing in all fronts and Baramulla district is no exception to it, the Chairperson District Development Council Baramulla Safeena Beigh today said that district is today recognized as an Aspirational District and the fastest developing District in the country and the need of the hour is to make involvement of youth in the progress of the district by utilizing their potential in all the sectors.

The Chairperson made these remarks on the occasion of 73rd Republic Day Celebration 2022 at District Police Lines Baramulla here where she unfurled the tricolor besides inspected the parade and took a salute at the march past.

The march past was presented by the contingents of J&K Police, CRPF, Home guards, Fire and Emergency services, NCC and students from different schools.

The chairperson underlined the need to involve the youth to take part in democratic process so that they will contribute to the national building and do their part in strengthening democratic values of the Nation.

While highlighting the sector wise achievements made by the district, the Chairperson said that the district has shown a remarkable achievement with regard to road connectivity, and the new roads have been constructed for the ease of the general public.

The Chairperson also said that the spread of Covid-19 pandemic has been controlled to a large extent which became possible due to the dedication and enthusiasm of district administration.

While applauding the initiatives taken by the UT administration towards youth empowerment, Safeena Beigh said that recently launched ”Mission Youth ” is a welcome step and more needs to be done in this regard in Baramulla district.

DIG North Kashmir, Uday Bhaskar Billa, Principal District and Sessions Judge Baramulla, Mohd Yousuf Wani, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Bhupinder Kumar, SSP Baramulla, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, DDC members, BDC Chairpersons, MC Presidents, Officers of Judicial administration, Officers of Army and Police, District and sectoral officers, heads of different departments besides a huge gathering of people and students witnessed their overwhelming participation.

Meanwhile, a variety of cultural programmes were presented on the occasion depicting cultural diversity and heritage of the region.

Meanwhile, a similar function was today organized by the Judiciary at District Court Complex Baramulla where Principal District and Sessions Judge Baramulla Mohammad Yousuf Wani unfurled the Tricolour and took statute at the event.

Judicial officers, lawyers and advocates, functionaries of district court among other concerned functionaries witnessed their overwhelming participation.

The Republic Day function was celebrated with enthusiasm at Sopore today. BDC Chairperson Dr.Farida Khan hoisted the National Flag at Police Lines Khushal Sports Stadium Sopore and took salute at the march past presented by the contingents of CRPF District Police Sopore, Home Guard and school children.

Among others, SSP Sopore Sudhanshu Verma, officers and officials of various functionaries, civil society members besides other people were present at the function.

Various colourful programmes were presented by government and private schools to enthrall the audience during the function.

Later, trophies and appreciation certificates were awarded to best performers, officials and media persons.

At Budgam: The 73rd Republic Day was today celebrated with much zeal and zest across the district, with DDC Chairman Budgam, Nazir Ahmad Khan as a chief guest unfurled the National Flag and took salute at the march-past at Sports Stadium Budgam, where main function was held.

On the occasion, various contingents from JKP, JKAP, CRPF, Home guards, NCC Cadets besides Contingents of education institutions also participated in the march-past parade.

Among others, SSP Budgam Tahir Saleem Khan, ADDC Budgam Dr. Akramullah Tak, ADC Budgam Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone, ASP, Gowhar Ahmad, GM DIC, Dr. Mohammad Ashraf, district officers and officers from Army, CRPF and BSF were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Nazir Ahmad Khan, in his address extended his Republic Day greetings to the people and paid rich tributes to leaders for drafting the Indian constitution.

He also appreciated the Covid Warriors for their selfless efforts during Pandemic and highlighted the development works carried out during the year.

Chairman also deliberated on the ongoing development scenario of the district and said that the district Budgam is touching new heights with active participation of people in government initiatives.

On the occasion, various artists and school children presented various colorful cultural programs including Rouf, Ladishah, patriotic songs, Bangda, enthralling the audience, present there.

The prize distribution ceremony was also held wherein various officers and officials from different departments were awarded for their meritorious work.

The Republic Day functions were also held at Sub Divisional, Block and Tehsil level across the district Budgam.

Pertinent to mention here that the R-Day function was also organized by the Social Forestry Department Budgam.

At Ganderbal: The District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson Ganderbal, Nuzhat Ishfaq unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at the March Past presented on the occasion of 73rd Republic Day function held at Qamariya ground, Ganderbal here, today.

In her address, while congratulating the people of Ganderbal, DDC Chairperson lauded the importance of Republic Day celebration and highlighted the various developmental achievements registered by district administration in different sectors in the district besides implementation of welfare schemes as on 73rd Republic Day.

To give a flip to the developmental activities in the district, she said that 75 projects are approved under the Languishing scheme at the cost of Rs 215 crore due to which the developmental scenario of the district will get changed and most of services would be available at the door steps of general public, once these projects get completed.

Besides, work on several other projects under different departments is also in full swing which include bridges, Health centers and Bus Adda which is constructed at the cost of Rs 12 crore, she added.

In her speech, Nuzhat also highlighted the importance of the Back to Village program and the My Town My Pride initiative. She said district Ganderbal has done remarkable work in implementation of centrally sponsored schemes.

She also lauded the district Administration for its efforts in containing Covid pandemic in the district and urged the general public to follow Covid protocols strictly to avert the threat of Covid 3rd wave.

The function concluded with distribution of prizes among students and contingents who participated in March past and cultural programs.

The event was witnessed by SSP Ganderbal, President Municipal Council Ganderbal, ADDC, ADC, ASP, DDC members, BDC Chairpersons, Municipal Councilors besides various officers and officials from Police and District Administration.

Meanwhile, flag hoisting ceremony was also held in all blocks of the district.

At Pulwama: To celebrate 73rd Republic Day, a grand function was today organized at DPL Pulwama where Chairperson District Development Council (DDC) Pulwama, Syed Abdul Bari unfurled the National Flag and took salute at parade comprising contingents from CRPF, JKP, JKP Women’s Wing, Commando Palato, JKAP, Fire & Emergency, Home Guard, Youth Services & Sports Contingent and Band Squad contingent.

Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Baseer-Ul-Haq Choudary, Additional District Development Commissioner Pulwama Dr. Sheikh Ab Aziz, SP Pulwama Ghulam Jeelani, besides all District Civil, Police officers, DDC Members, BDC Members, PRI members, and large no of people were present on the occasion.

In his address Chairperson DDC extended his warmest greetings on the Republic Day to the people. He said it is an honor for every citizen of Pulwama that the district has been ranked as No. 1 district in Kashmir division under the Good Governance index launched by the Union Minister of Home, Govt of India.

Highlighting the developmental scenario of the district, the Chairman DDC said that during the current financial year, the District Capex Budget of Rs. 407.82 cr. has been approved which is three times more than the District Capex budget of 2020-21.

On the occasion, Artists from the Information Department, DYS&S presented various Cultural items like songs, skits, chakri and Ladishah.

Meanwhile, Officers, Officials, Organizations and Individuals were awarded for achieving excellence in public services, Academics, Sports, Arts, Literature and Social Services.

Similar function was held at DPL Awantipora where concerned chairman municipal council Awantipora Bilal Ahmad unfurled the national flag, inspected the parade and took salute at the march past.

The national flag was also unfurled at the District Court Complex and various government offices, Schools and Colleges.

At Shopian: The 73rd Republic Day Celebration was today observed at District Police Lines (DPL) Shopian where DDC Chairperson, Bilqees Jan hoisted the Tricolour and took salute at march past presented by contingents of CRPF, JKP, IRP, Forest Protection Police, Homeguards and school children.

District Magistrate, Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya was the “Guest of Honour” on the occasion.

DDC Members, Sarpanchs Panchs, besides the seniors officers of District Administration, Police, CRPF, Prominent Persons of the society, social workers and political leaders among others attended the functions.

The DDC Chairperson congratulated the people of Shopian on Republic Day eve and aspired all to uphold constitutional values and ethics in letter and spirit.

In her address, Bilqees appreciated the District Administration for their fight against COVID-19 and also hailed the people’s cooperation on this behalf and said that keeping in view the 3rd wave of Covid-19, we all should together support the District Administration in eradicating the disease entirely.

A variety cultural programme was performed by the Information Department and school children of various Educational Institutions featuring patriotic songs and music amid thunderous applause from the spectators.

The RD concluded with felicitation of the government officers/officials for their extraordinary services including restoration of power supply, portable drinking water facility, snow clearance, road connectivity and presentation of the prizes to the participants.

Republic Day celebrations were also held at the Sub-district, Tehsil and Block Headquarters of the district.

Hoisting of the National Flag was held amid impressive Parades and mega cultural events at all venues of functions organised at district, sub-division, Tehsil and block levels.

At each Block level the National flag was hoisted by the concerned Chairpersons.

At Kulgam: On 73rd Republic Day, a grand function was held at District Police Lines Kulgam where Chairperson District Development Council (DDC), Mohd Afzal Parrey, hoisted the National Flag and took salute at the March past presented by the contingents of CRPF, JKP, JKP ladies police group, Home guard, fresh recruits, NCC cadets etc.

DDC, Vice Chairperson, Shazia Jan, DDC members, Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Dr.Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, SSP, Dr. G.V. Sandeep, BDC, President Municipal Council, Commandant CRPF 18th battalion, besides officers from civil and police administration and people participated in the programme.

Addressing the gathering, the Chairperson District Development Council congratulated the people on Republic Day eve and highlighted the importance and historical background of the day.

He highlighted the efforts of administration to combat Covid-19 pandemic efficiently and complimented the District Administration for their meticulous planning and role.

Giving a developmental profile of the district, the DDC Chairperson highlighted achievements recorded in Agriculture, Horticulture, RDD, R&B, Health, Social Welfare, YS&S, PHE and other departments.

Multiple Cultural programs and musical sessions were also held on the occasion which enthralled the audience.

Later prize distribution ceremony was organized in which officers, officials, academicians, sports persons and police personnel were felicitated.

Meanwhile, celebrations were also held across district Kulgam during which the national flag was hoisted in Court complexes, Blocks, tehsils, panchayats, Police stations, Municipalities, schools and all other institutions.

The National-flag was also hoisted by Deputy Commissioner, Dr.Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat at mini-secretariat, here. He highlighted the background of the day and congratulated the people.

At Kupwara: Republic Day was celebrated with traditional fervour and enthusiasm across district Kupwara.

The Main function was held at District Police Lines (DPL), Kupwara where Chairman District Development Council (DDC), Irfan Sultan Panditpori unfurled the National Flag, inspected the parade and took salute at march-past presented by contingents of JKP, JKAP, CRPF, IRP, Home Guards, FPF and police band.

Vice Chairman DDC, Haji Farooq Ahmad Mir; Principal District & Sessions Judge Kupwara, Tasleem Arief; Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Imam Din; Senior Officers of District Administration and Police including SSP Kupwara, Yougal Manhas; ADDC, Altaf Ahmad Khan; ADC Kupwara, Ghulam Nabi Bhat, District Officers, DDC members, BDC Chairpersons and PRIs besides, general public and Media persons attended the function.

While addressing the function, the Chairman DDC congratulated the people on the eve of Republic Day. He said it is because of the great values of Constitution, a new era of development has ushered in far flung district Kupwara, adding that the three tier Panchayati Raj System has built up an initiative of development across the district.

The Chairman DDC highlighted the developmental scenario of the district and while enlisting the developments he said that District CAPEX budget has been increased by 3 times from Rs.255.59 crore in last year to Rs.782.9 crore for current financial year against which Rs.16656 lakh have been spent till date and 2226 works have been approved under District CAPEX Budget for this year.

He commended the departments for working tirelessly in combating Covid-19 pandemic of first and second wave and appreciated the performance of all officers working under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Imam Din.

A variety of multilingual cultural programmes were presented by school children representing various schools and educational institutions and artists at the occasion.

Later, the dignitaries distributed awards and certificates of appreciation among the officers and functionaries of the administration.

At Handwara, Republic Day celebration was also held at District Police Lines Handwara where President Municipal Committee Handwara, Masroor Ahmad Banday unfurled the National Flag, inspected the parade & took salute at march past presented by contingents of JKP, JKAP, BSF, CRPF, IRP and Police band.

SP Handwara, Sandeep Gupta; Officers from civil administration, police department and other concerned were present on the occasion.

Later, Cultural programmes and Award ceremony was also held.

At Karnah, Republic Day was also celebrated at the border area Tangdar where SDM Karnah, Dr. Gulzar Ahmad Rather unfurled the National Flag. Cultural programmes were also held.

Meanwhile, Principal District and Sessions Judge Kupwara, Tasleem Arief hoisted the National Flag at District Court Complex Kupwara.

The Additional District and Sessions Judge (P.O) Fast Track Court Kupwara, Chief Judicial Magistrate Handwara, Sub-Judge Kupwara, Secretary DLSA Kupwara, Special Mobile Magistrate Trehgam, Munsiff Kupwara, Munsiff Handwara, Munsiff Sogam, Munsiff Kralpora attended the ceremony along with their staff.

At Bandipora: The main function of 73rd Republic Day was held at SK Stadium Bandipora where Chairman District Development Council Abdul Gani Bhat unfurled the National Flag and inspected the parade.

Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad, SSP Bandipora, Mohammad Zahid, Vice Chairperson DDC, Kounser Shafeeq, ADDC Ali Afsar Khan, Joint Director, Planning, Imtiyaz Ahmad, officers of civil administration, police and Army besides representatives of Panchayat Raj Institutions were present on the occasion.

The march-past was presented by the contingents of CRPF, JK Police, Fire and Emergency Services, NCC cadets, and students from different schools also took part in the event.

Addressing the gathering, the DDC Chairman highlighted the importance of the day and highlighted the achievements registered in the district. He said the current financial year witnessed major developmental activities in the district despite major challenges of COVID-19 pandemic.

He said the people in unison bravely fought the challenges of the pandemic and lauded the efforts of the frontline workers to help in fighting the pandemic besides hailing the cooperation of the people in tackling the pandemic.

DDC Chairperson said the current financial year has been a year of achievements for the district as Bandipora received National Award for e-Governance during 24th National conference on e- Governance held at Hyderabad, Telangana.

He also made special mention of Martial Artist and renowned sportsperson Faisal Ali Dar who was conferred Padma Shri on the eve of Republic Day by the Government of India.

Later students presented several cultural programmes that enthralled the audience who appreciated the performers by huge applause.

COVID warriors and best performing government officers and officials, media persons and students were felicitated at the end of the programme.

Additional District Development Commissioner Bandipora Ali Afsar Khan unfurled the tricolor at Mini Secretariat Bandipora. On the occasion all senior officers of the district and other senior officers were present.

Similar programs were also held across the district at Sub-Divisional level in Gurez and Sumbal, wherein Chief Guests unfurled the national flag and took salute on the march past.

Tri Color was also unfurled in all High Schools, Higher Secondary Schools, District Hospital Bandipora, Degree Colleges, government offices, Panchayat Ghars and Municipal Buildings. In Gurez the heavy snowfall couldn’t deter locals from staying indoors but came in numbers to celebrate the day along with the army.
