Jammu Kashmir Police in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district busted militant modules by arresting eight militant associates on Friday, Police said.
Joint forces of Baramulla Police & Army’s 16 SIKHLI during joint patrolling & area domination at Churunda Uri noticed one suspected person who was roaming in the area, who tried to flee while noticing patrolling party was apprehended tactfully.
During his personal search, 2 Grenades were recovered from him and he was taken into custody immediately he was later on identified as Showkat Ali Awan S/O Abdul Karim Awan R/O
Churunda Uri.
During further questioning, he revealed the names of his accomplices Ahmad Din S/O Shukur Din R/O Churunda Uri & Mohammad Sadeeq Khatana S/O Umer Din R/O Churunda who were questioned and upon their disclosure, 2 Grenades, 1 Chinese Pistol, 1 Pistol Magazine & 4 live rounds were recovered from them.
Similarly, At Powarian Thaial Uri on 11/08/2023, Joint forces of Baramulla Police & Army’s 16 SIKHLI during naka checking at Powarian Thajal Uri signaled one vehicle Maruti Swift bearing number CHOID-9588 to stop, who was coming from Thajal to Uri.
The vehicle was stopped, however, driver and other four persons boarding the vehicle insisted the naka party to allow them to proceed hospital due to certain medical emergencies upon which naka party felt suspicious about them.
Naka party immediately started a search of the vehicle and during the search 4 Hand Grenades, 2 Pistols, 2 Pistol Magazines, 10 live rounds & cash 50K was recovered and were taken into custody immediately.
The arrested were later identified as Akhter Bhat S/O Niyaz Bhat R/O Tarzoo Sopore, Mohammad Aslam Khatana S/O Ata Mohammad R/I Churunda Uri, Muneer Ahmad S/O Mohiuddin R/O Jabla Uri, Mudasir Yousuf Gokno S/O Mohammad Yousuf R/O Krankshivan & Bilal Ahmad Dar S/O Gh Mohiuddin R/O Hardushiva.
It is pertinent to mention here that the accused are involved in the cross-border smuggling of arms and ammunition at the behest of Pakistan-based terror handlers and its further distribution to LeT militants for carrying out terror activities.
Cases under Indian Arms Act & UA (P) Act were registered in Police Station Uri.
