8 years on, vital bridge in Pulwama awaits completion

After eight years, a vital bridge on the Romshi rivulet in Rohmoo village of Pulwama is awaiting completion causing immense suffering to people.

Locals told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that this bridge was washed out during the 2014 floods and since then people of this area have been facing hardships as authorities have failed to complete the bridge.

The bridge connects Pulwama district with neighbouring Budgam and is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 21.5 crore.

Khursheed Ahmad, local said that many bridges which were approved after 2014 have been completed but the bridge has been left incomplete due to unknown reasons

Another local said that the bridge is funded by World Bank and was taken up by JKPCC six years back and work was started accordingly. But the department is yet to complete it due to which locals continue to face difficulties.

Locals demand early completion of the bridge and requested the authorities to expedite the work on it.

A JKPCC official said that funds from World Bank got delayed due to which it took time to complete the bridge.

He assured me that very soon bridge will be completed—(KNO)
