Aadil Khan – Militant killed in Ganderbal leaves behind a minor daughter, wife

On 01 October 2020, Adil Ahmed Khan left his home for harvesting in the nearby fields at his home in the Badargund area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal.

On the 10th of October, his family spoke to The Kashmiriyat appealing to the public to find him, however, Aadil was to be found nowhere. His family had also filed a missing report in the concerned Police station to help the family trace Aadil.

His family speaking to The Kashmiriyat said had said that Aadil has a minor daughter and a wife who had issued an emotional appeal asking him to return home. “We do not have anyone to earn us livelihood. Please return home so that we do not have to beg,” his wife had said.

Since then his family has been trying to call his number constantly, however, his number was switched off since. Early morning on Saturday, the family of Aadil Ahmed Khan son of Abdul Ahad khan received a call stating that Aadil had been killed during an encounter in the Kawbagh area of Ganderbal.

As per a statement of Jammu Kashmir Police, 24RR & 115 CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in the Kawbagh area of Ganderbal following information generated by respective police units.

” As the joint search parties approached towards suspected spots, the hiding terrorists started firing indiscriminately on the search parties which was retaliated leading to encounters at both the places,” the statement read.

In the ensuing encounter at Ganderbal, one militant identified as Adil Ahmad Khan son of Abdul Ahad resident of Badarkund Ganderbal was killed.

As per police records, Adil Khan was involved in the attack on the Vice president of BJP of dist Ganderbal on 6 Oct 2020, civilian killings in Srinagar, besides he facilitated grenade attack at Towheed Chowk & Chappargund, Ganderbal.
He was also involved in motivating youth to join militant folds, the Police said.
