Acute water scarcity hits Burnbugh Kangan, locals suffer

Residents of Burnbugh village of Kangan in Ganderbal District held a protest against the Jal-Shakti department as they are facing an acute shortage of drinking water for a few years

While complaining about the issue the residents said, that the authorities in the Jal-Shakti department are pushing them to face hardships in these bone-chilling days as they are not receiving a regular supply of drinking water.

Accusing the concerned officials of ignoring their plights, the residents have demanded immediate redressal of their grievances.

The residents said that they are facing immense hardships due to the acute shortage of water supply from the last three years which is making their life difficult.

A local told The Kashmiriyat that the water which they have been drinking from the last three Years fetched from streams is muddy and unsafe.

“Our children often fall ill by drinking unsafe and mud-filled water,” he said, adding that it seems our pleas are falling on deaf ears.

Locals said that if their grievances would not be redressed they would launch again agitation against the concerned department.

They appealed higher authorities to look into the matter.
