Some Polytechnic Colleges in Jammu and Kashmir are on the radar of the government after the faculty of these colleges have failed to show better results.

Polytechnic colleges in Jammu and Kashmir offer technical education and vocational training in specialized fields. These colleges aid in the self-employment of the youth, however, the data reveals that most of these colleges have shown poor results, much to the chagrin of the government.

Official sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar recently took a detailed analysis of the Polytechnic Colleges.

Sources added that Advisor Bhatnagar took strong notice of the poor results of some of these institutes and asked the Principal Secretary Skill Development Department (SDD), Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon to fix responsibility in this matter.

He has further asked the Principal Secretary and Director SDD to furnish a report within a week’s time detailing number of the lectures delivered and the performance of each teacher including pass percentage in subjects assigned to them.

Sources added that Director SDD, Sudershan Kumar gave a detailed presentation on the functioning of the Polytechnics across Jammu and Kashmir in presence of Principals of Polytechnic Colleges of all districts both in person and through video conferencing, however, the Advisor was not satisfied with the poor functioning and results of some of the colleges and sought time-bound report about the performances of college faculties.
