Hoteliers in Gulmarg, the famous tourist resort of Jammu Kashmir which receives lakhs of tourists from all over the world annualy are worried as the administration of Jammu Kashmir has initiated the process of issuing the notice of lease expiry.
The Local administration has refused to extend the lease of the hotels whose lease periods have expired in 2018-19 and reports state that the administration has taken over 70 hotels in the Gulmarg district of North Kashmir.
According to the the administative officials, many hotels have allegedly occupied kanals of land with any government permission, and they are following the High Court directions to retrieve the public land which these hotels have encroached.
The Jammu Kashmir High court recently hearing a Public Interest litigation on Gulmarg said hoteliers which were under expired leases had no right to continue occupying the hotels.
Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Baramulla, Mr. Ahsaan Mir said that, “the administration will take control of the hotels which are built over Government land, the snowfall yesterday forced us to stop the drive of taking control of these hotels.”
He said that the Government has to extend the lease of these hotels.
A hotelier speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that the administration has sent notices to at least 69 hoteliers mentioning that their lease agreement has ended and they would be acting as only “caretakers”.buy abilify online blackmenheal.org/wp-content/languages/new/abilify.html no prescription
The htoteliers said that the adminitsration demolished many structures in the area.
Meanwhile the authorities said that the hotels would continue to function and no hotelier has been asked to stop taking bookings for the winter season.
The land lease can be extended by up to 40 years and is extendable up to 10 years and 50 years respectively after all the parameters of the agreement are inspected.
Meanwhile hoteliers said that the district administration Baramulla on Tuesday demolished two dozen structures in Gulmarg tourist resort.
An official confirmed that the land was retrieved by a committee headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla adding that, “39.19 Kanal of land was retrieved from ‘encroachers’ including hoteliers and hut owners. and was later handed over to Gulmarg Development Authority.”
