After fire incidents, Dal dwellers demand transfer of incumbent Vice Chairman

After a couple of fire incidents in the interiors of Dal Lake, the inhabitant reiterated their demand for the transfer of present Lakes and Conservation Management Authority (LCMA) Vice Chairman Bashir Ahmed Bhat.

The inhabitants said that Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta had directed to set up at least five tourist villages in the interiors of Dal Lake within five months.

Even after the expiry of five months, the present VC didn’t do anything and even tenders have not been floated.

They said inhabitants have been deprived of all the facilities. “We witnessed a couple of fire incidents recently in the Dal Lake. Such incidents could have been averted if there would have been model villages equipped with all kinds of facilities like drainage, lighting system, gardens, block free water channels, etc.

They said the incumbent Vice Chairman Bashir Ahmed Bhat is from the Indian Revenue Service cadre who is on deputation and barely knows ABC of Dal Lake. “We want a VC who should be an experienced one and who knows his job well,” the Dal dwellers said adding that the present VC has miserably failed to keep the Dal clean and its conservation.

They appealed to LG Manoj Sinha and Chief Secretary Arun Kumar to intervene and save the Dal and its inhabitants. (KNT)
