Amid the widespread anger over the “growing” Islamophobia in India, several Indian employees are facing the backlash in in the middle eastern countries as their employers have started firing them.

This comes a day after Superstores in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain remove Indian products after insulting remarks against Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) by Nupur Sharma, BJPs former spokesperson.

Pertinently, BJP spokesperson had insulted the Prophet ﷺ on a live TV show, which evoked widespread condemnation. Several middle eastern countries including Kuwait, Qatar, Iran and Oman among others summoned the Indian ambassadors over the hateful comments by the BJP spokesperson.

The backlash in the middle east forced the ruling party Bhartiya Janta Party to remove their spokespersons and condemn the statements made by “fringe” elements. However, several users on Twitter have said that the removal was a mere hogwash and called for an action against the ideology of hate and extremism.

Mahami Mujibul Sharkiya, who is the Head of the Center for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law and Member of the Training Authority at the Kuwait Institute for Lawyers and Legal Studies said, “The suspension of BJP spokespersons from the party is a mere hogwash. The Hindutva ideolgy of hate and extremism which resulted in the demolition of #BabriMasjid and the ongoing blasphemy in India won’t stop until the Muslim world takes serious measures. We must act. @OIC_OCI”

Several Arab employers took to Twitter stating that concerned over the growing Islamophobia in India, they have fired Indian workers and also declared that they will not hire any more Indians. South Asian Journal reported that an Arab Sheikh fired all his Indian (Hindu) workers from jobs. He handed them all their dues and gave them plane ticket to India because Modi Government insulted prophet Mohammad (pbuh).

“He was working on my sponsorship. An Indian (carpenter) whose religion is Modi’s is in India at the moment on vacation. I told him that I did not want him to return to work because of the abuse of our Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace, and this is the weakest of faith. #إلا_رسول_الله_يا_مودي,”  Rashid Al Marikhi wrote on his twitter.

Sheikh Mohammed Saleh, who is the Director General – HMG group of Company, UAE also wrote that he has instructed the HR in his company to not hire anybody from India. “I have instructed my group company HR to not consider any Hindu for employment in our organisation, will be terminating those who are found to be endorsing blasphemy directly or indirectly,” Saleh wrote.
