Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo chaired a high-level meeting with key officials from AIIMS Awantipora, Health & Medical Education, PWD, Jal Shakti, and CPWD to expedite the completion of the AIIMS Awantipora project, a significant healthcare facility in the region.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary reviewed the progress of the physical infrastructure, workforce deployment, and timelines for project completion.
He instructed the executing agency to increase the number of laborers after the winter season to accelerate the work.
The Jal Shakti Department was directed to finish the first phase of the water supply scheme, including three bore wells, by May 2025, ensuring adequate water supply for the hospital’s operations.
Executive Director of AIIMS Awantipora, Dr. Sachidananda Mohanty, reported that the project has achieved 61% physical progress across its 57 blocks, including six hospital blocks, four academic blocks, and multiple residential and hostel facilities. He confirmed that the institute is on track to become functional by November 2025.
The Chief Secretary also discussed provisions for additional land and future expansions, assuring administrative support for any pending issues.
Despite the challenges posed by cold weather, which led to a reduced labor force, construction continues on various blocks with approximately 850 workers currently engaged.
AIIMS Awantipora, a premier healthcare and medical education institution, is expected to transform the healthcare landscape in the region, offering advanced medical services and academic facilities upon its completion.
