Amid bone-chilling cold, the casual labourers of the Wild Life Department staged night protest in Bijbehara seeking the release of their pending wages. The protesters demanded that their jobs be made permanent.
Scores of these workers appeared at Wild Life Division, Bijbehara and were seen raising slogans, asking for the fulfillment of their demand and urging the higher authorities to address their issues without any delay.
“We have been working for more than 13 years in the department but we are getting nothing in the name of wages. Our long pending wages are not yet released due to which we, along with our families, are suffering,” one of the protesters told The Kashmiriyat.
They said that they have to travel several kilometers to attend to their duties, adding “And at the end of the day, we get nothing. Our families are suffering and we are not even able to pay the school dues of our children,” the protesters said.
The protestors said that because their families are solely dependent on them, they appeal to the LG Administration to issue the necessary directions to the Department so that their issue is resolved.
