Anantnag encounter: No Fresh firing, Massive searches underway

Amid the ongoing lull after a brief exchange of gunfire, a massive search is underway at the site of the encounter in the Watnad area of Anantnag’s Kokernag belt.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that three militants including a top commander were believed to be trapped in the area, however, after the initial exchange of gunfire, no fresh firing has been heard at the site of the encounter.

They said that the militants have likely escaped from the encounter site, but searches are underway to find the militants.

Earlier officials had said that 19RR of the Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF had launched a joint cordon and search operation, during which they were fired upon by militants.

During the initial exchange of gunfire, one army man of 19 RR was killed.

As per the latest reports, massive searches are still going on at the site of the encounter.
