Anantnag youth set to represent India in softball championship

A youth from Anantnag district in south Kashmir is set to represent India in the upcoming Softball Asia Cup (Men) championship, set to take place in Japan.

Rohil Rashid, a resident of Anantnag’s Takiya Behram Shah, has been chosen by hand to play for the senior men’s Indian squad in the eagerly awaited international Softball Asia Cup competition that begins on June 25 in Kochi, Japan.

Hailing from a humble background, Rohil who is a teenager has been enthusiastic about Softball since his early childhood days.

“I gave my best effort during the tryouts in Odisha and was successful in earning a position on the team. Since I was little, I have participated in the under-14 division of this game. I’m appreciative that the Softball General Secretary and the Secretary of the Sports Council J&K gave us the proper setting and training opportunities to improve our abilities,” said Rohil.

His selection for the Softball Asia Cup championship not only highlights his abilities but also establishes Anantnag as a haven for top-tier athletic potential.

The entire neighbourhood stands behind him as he sets out on this thrilling voyage to Japan, wishing him success as he strives to uphold the nation’s honour and make his village proud.
