Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid Srinagar Monday paid glowing tribute to one of the topmost saints of Islam—Sheikh Bahaa-ud-Din Naqshband Sahib (RA) for his unprecedented spiritual and reform services.
According to a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Hazrat Bahaa-ud-Din (RA) was the founder of the Sufi order of Naqshbandiya and millions of Muslims in the subcontinent including many in Kashmir follow this order.
The Anjuman termed it extremely unfortunate and condemnable that its president Mirwaiz Umar Farooq is continuously being kept under house arrest for the last 26 months due to which he is unable to discharge his duties as the Mirwaiz.
This also included his routine to deliver sermon at Khawaja Naqshband Sahib (RA) shrine to on the famous occasion of “Khoja Digar”.
The people, especially the religious people, are very much disappointed as well as disturbed due to the continuous incarceration of the Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir; and they deem such acts of rulers as a sheer interference in their religious affairs, the Anjuman said.
The Anjuman has stressed upon the government to release Mirwaiz Umar Farooq so that he can spread the message of Seerah (biography) of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) through his sermons and speeches in this holy month of Rabi-ul-Awwal—(KNO)
