
On Sunday, residents of Chattabal area staged a protest at press enclave, demanding authorities to look why the Army has dug a playfield in their locality.
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), scores of residents from Chana Mohalla locality of Chattabal and adjoining areas assembled at Srinagar’s press enclave today.
One of the protesters, Javaid Ahmad, said that they saw some Army men digging a local playfield in their area. “Soon after spotting them in the field, we approached towards them and asked why they are digging the playfield. We were told that they were planting a tree,” he said.
Locals are apprehensive that the Army is going to ‘grab’ the land, therefore want the authorities to look into the matter, he said.

Ahmad said, “The government must look into the matter and ensure that the land available as playfield for the youth must not be grabbed by anyone”.
