Authorities Confirm Bird Flu in Kashmir after Government Lifts Bans on Poultry Import

On Friday, the authorities confirmed Avian Flu (Bird Flu) among the crows and migratory birds in the Valley, days after the government lifted ban on poultry import in Jammu Kashmir.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), officials said that Avain flu has been reported at four places among migratory birds and crows while no case of Avain flu has been reported in poultry birds so far.

Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam and Budgam are the four places where Avain flu has been confirmed.

The government has issued instructions to do surveillance within one km radius and take samples from Poultry farms, soon after Avain flu cases were reported.

Nodal Officer for Avain flu in Kashmir province, Dr. Mushtaq Shah confirmed that cases of Avain flu that were reported in Kashmir division among crows and some wild birds (Migratory birds).

According to Dr. Mushtaq, the authorities are taking necessary precautions.

Nine States in India have reported cases of Avain flu in the past one month.
